NBA and 2k Sports announce new eSports league

The NBA and 2k Sports announced thursday the NBA 2k eLeague, that will be owned by the NBA and will launch in 2018. Each team will be owned by a specific NBA organization, and will have five professional e-sports players to represent those teams.

The League will consist of head-to-head competition that will include a regular season, playoffs, and championship matchup. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated:

"The popularity of NBA 2k with the young and growing e-sports community provides a unique opportunity to develop something truly special for our fans and the gaming community. We look forward to combining our best-in-class NBA team operators with Take-Two's competitive gaming expertise to create a brand new league experience."
