Esports brand Cloud9 receives investments from high-profiled owners and sports figures
Cloud9, an esports brand, received an undisclosed amount in investments from a number of investors. Originally founded by Jack and Paullie Etienne, Cloud9 competes in the popular League of Legends, Overwatch, Counter-Strike, and Call of Duty.
A few key names of the investors include: Reddit Co-founder, Alexis Ohanian; Golden State Warriors co-owner, Chamath Palihapitiya, San Francisco 49ers Hall of Famer Joe Montana, and LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly.
Reddit Co-founder Alexis Ohanian stated, "Growing up, I wanted to own an NFL team, now the obvious move is to invest in an esports franchise and I'm thrilled it's Cloud9."
Cloud9 founder, Jack Etienne is thrilled with the new recent investors.
"We've formed a fantastic group of investors to help push Cloud9 to the next level." Etienne said.
